ADDENDUM

Search Methods - Bush Land Areas

...in the bush...!...

...got it low...

...between 1 and 3...

...in meter....

...mmm...

...owhh...

...eh...

1. Execute a Grid or Spiral Search Pattern

Do not search at random. Choose a geometric pattern based on your surroundings:

  • The Spiral Search: If you know the general radius where you dropped it, start at the center (your marked home base) and walk outward in ever-widening concentric circles. Keep your circles close together—no wider than your maximum visibility through the brush.

  • The Grid Search: If there is a straight path, use a lawnmower pattern. Walk a straight line parallel to the path, turn around, step a few paces into the brush, and walk back in the opposite direction.

2. Change Your Visual Perspective

Bushland camouflages shapes easily, especially if your target artifact is green, brown, or black.

  • Look for unnatural shapes: Nature rarely creates perfect straight lines, right angles, box latches, or zippers. Scan for geometry rather than color.

  • Change your height: Crouch down low to look under the brush canopy. Sometimes a storage box is completely hidden from a standing viewpoint but highly visible from knee height.

  • Look up: If dropped down a slope, it may have caught on a lower tree branch, a thick bush, or a rock ledge. [1, 2]

3. Scan for Disturbances in Nature

Look for the physical footprint of any stasher personnel transits through the bush:

  • Broken twigs or trampled grass: Look for freshly snapped branches, overturned leaves (showing their lighter undersides), or packed-down undergrowth.

  • Scuff marks: Check the dirt or moss for slide marks, which are common if the storage box rolled down an incline.
